After relocating from Wellington, these clients wanted their new Whangārei home to embrace its lush bush setting — a clear departure from the beach-inspired palette of their previous space. Mid-renovation and feeling unsure how to bring everything together, they engaged AGD to create a cohesive scheme across the open-plan living areas.
While the kitchen had already been selected, the bold orange splashback felt like a leap of faith. We helped them confidently commit to the choice, then developed a layered interior scheme that allowed this vibrant feature to feel intentional and beautifully balanced.
A soft, neutral paint palette was used throughout to create a calm backdrop, allowing the surrounding greenery, artwork, and carefully chosen furnishings to take centre stage. Distinct zones for dining, lounging, and entertaining were designed to flow seamlessly while maintaining their own identities.
Incorporating existing pieces was an important part of the brief — including a treasured rug, colourful side tables, and an impressive art collection. New dining and lounge furniture was specified and sourced, custom curtains were manufactured, beloved pieces were reupholstered, and each space was finished with thoughtfully selected rugs and bespoke cushions.
