Tutukaka Paradise
These lovely clients were moving up North to live in their beachside holiday house as a permanent home.
They engaged Design Group Auckland to complete all the building work,
and then Anna Grace Design to furnish and style the space,
turning it into a home that was welcoming and comfortable.
They had wonderful existing pieces that we were able to refurbish and reuse,
creating a refreshed concept for a relaxed, more permanent feel.
We chose to retain a beachy feel as the home is directly on the waterfront,
but to upgrade it to ‘sophisticated beachy’ rather than ‘casual bachy’,
while still retaining an inviting and relaxed feel.
The scope of work was focused on the lounge, primary bedroom and exterior lounge area, we also updated window treatments in the dining room, and both guest bedrooms. We worked closely with our client to select, produce and install the perfect window treatments, bedding, upholstery, cushions and light shades to complement existing wallpapers and artworks.
In the lounge area we swapped out the ‘beachy’ printed curtains for a sophisticated weave,
reupholstered sofas and chairs to add some softness and pattern,
and added cushions in our new colour palette to soften the built in seating
and tie in existing artwork and refurbished pieces.
The primary bedroom got a full makeover with updated curtains,
the blue stripe being a nod to the coastal location,
reupholstered bench seat, and custom cushions –
all designed to tie in with the bedding that was selected by the client.
In order to maximise space and make the most of indoor/ outdoor living,
a deck was transformed into a covered outdoor room.
We chose a robust, playful outdoor fabric for the sofas to enhance the beach vibe
and which played on bringing through the blues and greens from outside.
The space was finished with an indoor/outdoor rug to create a sense of warmth
and which helps turn this deck space into another room.
