Heartplace Hospital – Mangawhai

is a place where carers are supported and uplifted to heal and be supported and empowered.

The founder and director engaged us to create a peaceful and nourishing space where all of this could take place,
as well as support family living.

creating a luxurious guest room

We chose a colour palette inspired by nature, located in a country setting just minutes from Mangawhai village, the grounds are surrounded by lush greenery. We used several tones of green to pull the outside in, and to create a feeling of calm and groundedness – so important for the visitors to the hospital. Pops of colour were used to uplift the feel, used in moderation so as to retain the peaceful feel, while adding interest and a gentle reviving energy.

The client is very energetically intune and so we used high quality products (NZ made wherever possible) to ensure items held high energy value, and made sure to leave plenty of space around the furnishings for energy to clear.

We selected interior paint colour for the entire home, and fully furnished both living spaces.
The main living area was fully furnished in items selected and/or designed by Anna Grace Design.

Two sofas were custom ordered, covered in a light but hardy fabric
so as to hold up to use by the high number of visitors to the hospital.

We specified an indoor outdoor rug (again high use and easy clean),
some Bali inspired pieces, lighting and custom cushions.

In the adjoining kitchen and dining areas we sourced lighting and seating
in natural colours to create a sense of ease and restfulness.

The second living space was designed as a multi functional space that could support everything from family movie nights, to Women’s Circles to the ecstatic dance events that are frequently hosted on site.

A large, custom New Zealand made sectional was chosen and covered in a cleanable green velvet –
bringing in soft textures and colour, and tie in with an existing artwork.

Again a durable but textural rug was chosen to ground the space, we reupholstered a family heirloom chair in a floral to create a feature piece and added soft window treatment and cushions to finish the space.
